(Distance: 31.8 kms Time: 7.5 hours)
The Day: We put Burgos behind us early this morning with hopes of going a good distance and we accomplished our biggest day yet (just shy of 20 miles!). We were blessed with overcast skies for most of the morning and when the sun finally came out, for the most part there was a cool breeze blowing ... God is good. So when we got beyond Burgos and the "city features" of power lines, etc. we entered what is caled the Meseta. It is wide open country side with little to no shade and endless fields of wheat with a few fields of sun flowers mixed in. Betsy and I are learning how to be gentler toward each other and how to work out compatibility while dealing with the demands of the Camino. We are still learning even after 35 years of marriage :-)

The people: Even though we pushed the distance today, we still kept contact with some of our new friends as well as making some new ones. Patrick, Jee Young and Mike all made it to Hontanas and we met Angelieh, Katrina and Rhys as new friends. We all had dinner together (a pilgrim's meal) and got to enjoy learning about each other and sharing our stories. Not a bad way to end another day.
